Paul Lawrence

As the Treasurer for the University of Pittsburgh, Paul is responsible for developing and maintaining a proper capital structure and liquidity profile for the University to both support the University’s goals and objectives and to properly manage financial risk. He manages the University’s financial assets and liabilities, oversees all banking relationships and provides financial insight related to capital projects and strategic initiatives.

Prior to becoming Treasurer in 2018, Paul spent 20 years as the managing director of investments and assistant treasurer, where Paul led a team of investment professionals responsible for managing the University's endowment. Before coming to Pitt, Paul worked at a public accounting firm as a forensic accountant and was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). 

He graduated with highest distinction from the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and he earned an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. Paul holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Pittsburgh, and the Association of Financial Professionals.
